Textual Analysis Of TV Drama Title Sequences - Dexter

Dexter:

  • Makes us think about Blood and Guts

  • Scary

  • Deranged

  • Psycho

  • Everyday routine

  • Music = Ironic - Upbeat but creepy

  • Odd

  • Contrast between shots - dark and light

  • Shows potential weapons - blades, scalpels, coffee grinder

  • Scalpel to cut speak - maybe he's a surgeon

Class Analysis - Editing:

  • Arm Slapping Then Waking up - squishing a bug (killing)
  • Jump cuts from cooking to eating the food, very quickly
  • Dexter title - Red and Bloody, Sharp, back ground looks like skin and 'Dexter' has been carved into it
